Interplanetary colonisation!!

Been a while, fellow nerds.
Before I start the main segment, I recently started college so I haven't had a lot of time for anything! So I'm going hurtling some scientific mind-farts at you to get back into the swing of things.
Space fascinates me. The one thing that fascinates me more is the uncanny ability we humans have to challenge our intellectual boundaries and do those crazy things! The original computer was about the size of a double decker bus, some bright spark thought that up out of his mind! Nower days nearly every body has a computer but not only that, we all own slave devices as small as a mini match box. mobile phones are more mobile to the point where you forget its in your pocket.
My point is that space exploration is very much open to the entropy of the human mind, therefore interplanetary colonization could be possible if somebody puts their mind to it.
We currently (at the time of writing this) have two mars rovers patrolling the red planet and personally I would love to see the first man on mars in my generation. These stories of human achievement are the things that give me hope in the human race and the future ahead of us.
I think that an earth colony on mars in my life time would greatly boost our achievements sky high.

Terra-forming is an option being well looked into by scientists... Turns out they want to send up a mass of gasses to a power plant which will be build on mars, this will create global warming on mars, thus heating it up enough for life to sustain itself and therefore sustain us. this process would kick start the Terra-forming process which could end up making mars green (again??)

Martian life has become the stuff of comedy but, what if it were all true. now i don't mean that there are little green men tittering about up there but there could have been at some point, no. I think that plant life may have been on mars at some point so we need to decide if we can use the existing oil supply on mars if there is any.

First off, mars is a lot smaller so we would need to get used to the mega jumps like in John Carter of Mars..... badish movie..... but.... what? oh yeah.. we would have to maybe make a device that can let us walk "normally".
Second, there is actually quite the absence of oxygen on mars, around 0.2% in fact. So, unlike in John Carter of Mars, we would need to ship masses of compressed oxygen or mass produce plant life so oxygen could be somehow incorporated into the atmosphere. More realistically, scientists are thinking about using the same idea Eden project uses by constructing large bio domes.
Third we need to get over the violent dust and debris storms that constantly blast through the crimson horizon.
Fourth
, we really need to get a grip with our lust for petroleum oil, money, violence, power and did i mention petroleum oil? An oil apocalypse WILL come and faster than you think unless we find out an efficient alternate fuel source.

Recently in the news, it was announced by NASA that a mars base is going to be a thing. I cant really say much about this yet because i dont have the information in front of me so hes a link - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TG-2L3LZKmY&list=UU_gE-kg7JvuwCNlbZ1-shlA&index=4&feature=plcp
thank you for reading, please share if you liked this but for now... cya :P
